Neste artigo, discutem-se concepções de graduandos do Curso Letras que sejam as palavras e suas potencialidades. Abrangendo quatro semestres atividades letivas remotas, no período pandêmico (2020 a 2022), 99 conceituações fornecidas – postadas ambiente virtual aprendizagem Canvas à guisa atividade sondagem e/ou avaliativa, evidenciam alguns critérios se sobrepõem outros aspectos funcionais semântico-pragmáticos (empregabilidade, flexibilidade, significado/sentido) superam menções aos formais. Numa análise qualitativa, com base em aporte teórico sociointeracionista discursivo, percebe-se os estudantes procedem escolhas (lexicais, gênero, estilo, etc.), evidenciando um projeto dizer evidencia maior ou menor engajamento pedagógica proposta. Conclui-se que, embora não consigam evidenciar conceito cabal (e por vezes repetirem certas expressões formulaicas nas explicitadas), há uma e-laboração, ato linguagem (nos moldes discute Charaudeau, 1983, 1995).
